God is Faithful

We’ve all heard the phrase “God is faithful” at some point in our lives, especially if you’ve spent any length of time at church. It’s one of those familiar Christian phrases that can become just another saying if we allow it to be. But to have a clear understanding of what it really means to declare ”, it is important that we discover the qualities that make Him the faithful God that He is.

What Makes God Faithful

1. God is always there. He’s always present.

God says in His Word over and over again that He will never leave you and will never forsake you.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with. He will not leave you or forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

This means that He will never let you down. There will never be a time when you call on God in faith where He will not be there for You. Not one time will He forsake you or forget about you. In fact, it’s God’s job and pleasure to rescue you during times when it seems like you are all alone. Your Heavenly Father loves being there for you at all times…It is sole delight!

2. God cannot lie.

In Hebrews 6:18, the Bible points out that it is impossible for God to lie. That means that you can count on everything God says to be the completely true.

“So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of His purpose, He guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.” – Hebrews 6: 17-18

You can depend on His truthfulness and you don’t ever have to worry about God telling you something or showing you something that will not come to pass. Even through the challenges of life, you can rest securely in this one thing: God will not lie and CANNOT lie to you.

3. God never changes.

The Bible, states that God’s faithfulness goes on and on from generation to generation. When you think about the generation that came before you or the generation that will come after you, you can also think of how God’s promises remain true for them just as they are for you.

“Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You have established the earth, and it stands fast” – Psalm 119:90

There is so much security in having a firm understanding of this reality; especially as you look at the world today. It seems like everything is constantly changing. The way things are done in school systems, the way the economy is working, or how there is something new always popping up in regards to technology…nothing in this world will stay the same forever. But what a joy to know that this is not true for God. God will NEVER change. In fact Isaiah 40:8 states that “While the grass withers, and the flower fades, the Word of our God will stand forever”. He is a constant, never changing, faithful Father!

Reflect:

This week, we encourage you to remember God’s faithfulness. Don’t just think of His faithfulness as some religious saying that is reserved for Sunday Mornings at church, but think of all the qualities of God that make Him faithful. He a constant, truthful, and ever-present God who loves you!
